"Beginning to seriously consider a move to Portugal and becoming a citizen via a D7 visa permit for me and a D8 visa permit for my partner. Wondering about the US & Portuguese tax situation…in short, living in Portugal with a US income (either passive or earned), I believe I’d be required to pay both US federal & Portuguese taxes. Is there some reciprocity in taxes between the two countries? That is to say, the US would either credit or offset the taxes I’d pay to the Portuguese government or vice versa? Or would I just be double taxed and that would be the cost of living in Portugal with a US based income? Thanks!" - RCH2024
